Coming soon to the kcpipernews near you: student blogs

Blogs may not be as popular as they were circa 2009, but they can still be used as an outlet of expression, even if they are not highly viewed. That’s why kcpipernews is encouraging readers to get creative and submit their own video auditions in order to be accepted to run weekly blogs that will be featured on this website.

Don’t have any ideas? Don’t worry! Here are a few ideas to get you started.

  1. Cooking. While this is an essential skill for any young adult, many high schoolers are still unable to cook. Whether you run a written recipe blog or only post video tutorials, you’ll be teaching others how to work in the kitchen.
  2. Makeup tutorials. Can you do winged eyeliner sharp enough to cut? Consider doing tutorials to teach others what brands and techniques should be used for the best effect.
  3. Music. Music is incredibly diverse, and there are so many options for blogs focused on them. Review albums and local bands, teach others how to play an instrument or post videos of your own band hard at work.
  4. Arts and Crafts. Can you paint, knit or draw? Can you teach others to paint, knit or draw? Run a blog on arts and crafts!
  5. Informational. If you have tips for surviving high school, would like to educate others on political matters or just have general knowledge to impart, apply for an informational blog.

Blog idea submissions must be in by Sept. 17.
