Recently, many of Piper’s teams have been doing quite well, but one team constantly overlooked is girls’ golf.

“We’ve taken at least first or second at almost every tournament that we’ve been to,” senior Jessica Hutchings said. “We’ve all reach the goals that we set in the beginning of the year.”

Hutching’s personal record is 98 that she set last year at state. She’s hoping that this year she will hit the low 90s.

The golf team qualified for state Oct. 8 for the seventh straight year after placing third place with a score of 383. At the Spring Hill meet senior Reiley Kirwan placed 7th with a score of 94. Juniors Brooklyn Lamberd and Anh-Dao Do placed individual medals, Lamberd with 6th place and a score of 92 and Do placed 9th place with a score of 96.

“We’re hoping for third place, because we have the best shot that we’ve had in the past seven years with this team, but honestly anything above fifth,” Hutchings said.

The girls’ golf team will be sent off to state at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 16.

“Our weaknesses are after one bad hole we get in our head too much, and that affects the rest of our game,” Hutchings said. “Our strengths are that we push each other to our furthest extent, and we all had the skills capable of doing the best.”
