Instead of dressing up and arguing their cases, debaters spent the day Oct. 7 in T-shirts and jeans working behind the scenes at their annual home tournament. Many students, teachers, parents and volunteers helped organize and execute the tournament.

Olathe Northwest took first in sweeps, which is a team’s overall performance at a tournament. Lawrence finished second and Olathe North was third.

“It went more smoothly than in years past,” junior Jamison Foglesong said. “We had a lot of debaters work hard to make ends meet and put on a great tournament for the schools that attended.”

The tournament director was senior Michael Gentry. He helped organize, supervise and made sure everything went well.

Fogelsong said, “He did a great job leading us.”
