The forensics team has several Catholic Forensics League Qualifiers. The official competition will be in Washington, D.C., during Memorial Day Weekend May 25-27.
“My favorite moment has been watching De’Avion Lynch take first place in both Dramatic Interp and Poetry Interp at Shawnee Mission Northwest,” forensics coach Tori Deneault said. “Both of her pieces confront issues of racial inequality. They are amazingly powerful when she does them. Seeing her be recognized for speaking her truth was my absolute favorite thing so far this year.”
The forensics team has had a successful season so far and hopes to go as far a possible.
“This year has been our most consistent season to date,” Deneault said. “We have won a sweeps award at five of the six tournaments we have attended to date and have accrued nearly 100 medals so far.”
Deneault attributes the team’s wins in part to the age of its members.
“One of the great things about this team is that we are relatively young,” she said. “I am looking forward to seeing these kids grow and continue to find their voices.”
