The boys and girl basketball teams are participating in the Bobcat Invitational Tournament this week.

“I’m excited for it. I want to win.” said senior small forward Braijion Barnes.

The boys played Tuesday vs St. Joe Central. The Pirates defeated St. Joe Central 63 to 58. The Pirates then moved on to play the home team Basehor-Linwood Bobcats. The Pirates defeated the Bobcats 49-47 on a last second shot by senior point guard Trey Bates.

“It was win or go home,” Bates said. “We weren’t going to sit around and lose. We had to make something happen and keep the streak going.”

The Pirates will play in the tournament championship game against Washburn Rural Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Pirates tipped off Wednesday vs the home team themselves, Basehor-Linwood. The Lady Pirates defeated the Bobcats 60 to 31. They advanced on to play Thursday against St. Joe Central. They defeated St. Joe Central with a score of 60 to 43. They are set to play in the tournament championship game against St. Joe Benton Friday at 6:00 p.m.
