Literary Arts Magazine

To submit your entry for the Literary Arts Magazine, use this Google Form. Anyone, student or faculty, at Piper High School can submit their original work as long as it follows the guidelines below.

We accept original poetry, short stories, songs, plays, screenplays, fiction, nonfiction, drawings, paintings, photographs, digital drawing, sculptures, pottery and/or jewelry.

While fan art might be accepted, works of original art are preferred.

Please submit your entry to potentially be published in the Special Edition of The Pirates’ Log. Within reason, explicit content will be flagged and reported to the administration. Obscene content is outlined on our about page under our Obscenity Policy: “The Pirates’ Log shall deal with profane language as stated in the AP style guide under “obscenity.” The appropriateness of all content will be judged by the editor and adviser if necessary.”

Submissions will be accepted through Friday, April 1. All submissions will be collected through this Google Form. Due to the potentially sensitive nature of creative writing and art, some submissions will be accepted and published anonymously – if you want to be anonymous, please write that in your artist statement. Not all who request to be anonymous will receive anonymity. It will be determined on a case-by-case basis. However, for the sake of record-keeping, your name will be collected on this Form and only seen by the adviser.

All entries will be judged anonymously by teachers, community members and artists (meaning the judge will not know the name of the person who submitted the work). Selected pieces will be published in the magazine, and depending on the number of submissions, those that receive honorable mention will be available at kcpipernews.com.

If you would like to purchase additional copies, they will be for sale for $2 apiece. If you would like to pre-pay, please drop your payment off in the office in an envelope labeled for Mrs. Bauman.

Please make sure all writing entries are free of grammatical and spelling errors. All writing entries are subject to editing for grammar and spelling and based on space availability, potentially linked to finish longer pieces.

**You can submit more than one entry. You just need to fill out a new Google Form for each entry.
