Freshman Keyon White’s shares his wrestling journey. Facing one of the the hardest sports known in high school wasn’t easy for White.
“It was challenging but I was getting better,” he said.
He faced many opponents in wrestling, some harder than others. But all opponents have some level of challenge.
“The hardest match for me was facing this guy stronger than me,” he said. “It was really hard to escape and get him.”
Eventually, White beat his opponent with a head and arm, despite the strength of his opponent.
“When I beat someone stronger than me or better than me, it felt very good to win,” he said.
But in the end it was just his first year, and challenges are inevitable. They’re also opportunities for growth. “If I lose, it doesn’t matter for me,” said White. “I keep going to get better. And if I win, I keep getting better in order to win more.”
